Tech Week Wireless Mic Checklist

Your gear arrives on the Monday of tech week and goes back the following Monday. This checklist keeps the week calm.

Before the gear arrives

  • Finish your mic plot: which actor wears which channel in each scene.

  • Assign a mic crew: one or two people who own packs, tape and batteries all week.

  • Plan pack placement with costumes and wigs: mic belts, pouches or sewn-in pockets.

  • Book at least 9 days ahead so the system ships on time.

Monday: unpack and test

  • Check every item against the packing list and keep the cases for the return.

  • Charge or fit batteries in every transmitter.

  • Run the receiver’s frequency scan and sync each pack, then label packs and mics by channel.

  • Walk the stage and house with one pack on to listen for dropouts.

Every rehearsal

  • Line check each actor before the run.

  • Fresh mic tape daily; wipe mics and packs between wearers.

  • Charge or replace batteries after every run, not when they die.

  • Keep a spare pack and mic ready backstage.

Return Monday

  • Count everything back into the cases using the packing list.

  • Use the prepaid UPS return label and drop it off on the following Monday.
