Wireless Mic & Projector Rental for The Addams Family

Starting point: Most productions of The Addams Family need 12 to 16 wireless channels. Our starting point is the Standard 16-channel system, which covers the ten principals plus featured Ancestors.
This is our suggested starting configuration, not a requirement of the show or its licensor. Your count depends on your edition, your staging and your crew.
How we got to 16 channels
The Addams Family has ten principals, and the Ancestors ensemble sings big group numbers. A typical plan:
-
Principals (10): Gomez, Morticia, Wednesday, Pugsley, Uncle Fester, Grandma, Lurch, Lucas Beineke, Mal Beineke, Alice Beineke
-
Featured Ancestors: up to 6 channels for Ancestors with solo lines
Cover the rest of the Ancestors with area or choir mics.
This count assumes: every listed role has its own transmitter; your venue covers big ensemble numbers with area or choir mics; and there are no pack swaps. Doubling roles or swapping packs lowers the count. Miking ensemble members individually raises it.
Doubling, pack swaps and your sound operator
Two actors can share a transmitter only if they are never on stage at the same time and a crew member has time offstage to move the pack, re-fit the mic and check it. Every channel also needs attention at the mixer: one operator following a marked script can run a show this size, but bring them into rehearsals before tech week.

Mic notes for Addams Family
-
Uncle Fester’s bald cap: a hairline mic won’t work; tape the mic along the cheek or use an earset.
-
Lurch: barely speaks until his big moment near the end. Keep his pack on all show so you are ready.
-
White face makeup: use mic covers for the Ancestors so makeup doesn’t clog the mics.
-
Morticia’s gown: plan pack placement with your costume team; a thigh pouch often works with fitted gowns.
