Wireless Mic & Projector Rental for Disney’s Alice in Wonderland

Starting point: Most productions of Disney’s Alice in Wonderland JR. need 14 to 16 wireless channels. Our starting point is the Standard 16-channel system, which covers both Alices and the featured Wonderland characters.
This is our suggested starting configuration, not a requirement of the show or its licensor. Your count depends on your edition, your staging and your crew.
How we got to 16 channels
Alice in Wonderland JR. has two Alices and a long list of featured characters. A typical plan:
-
Principals (6): Alice, Small Alice, the White Rabbit, the Mad Hatter, the Queen of Hearts, the Cheshire Cat leads
-
Featured roles (6 to 10): the March Hare, the Caterpillar, the King of Hearts, Tweedle Dee, Tweedle Dum, the Doorknob, Dodo, the narrators
Cover the flowers, cards and other Wonderland ensembles with area mics.
This count assumes: every listed role has its own transmitter; your venue covers big ensemble numbers with area or choir mics; and there are no pack swaps. Doubling roles or swapping packs lowers the count. Miking ensemble members individually raises it.
Doubling, pack swaps and your sound operator
Two actors can share a transmitter only if they are never on stage at the same time and a crew member has time offstage to move the pack, re-fit the mic and check it. Every channel also needs attention at the mixer: one operator following a marked script can run a show this size, but bring them into rehearsals before tech week.

Mic notes for Alice
-
Mad Hatter’s hat: place the hairline mic before the hat goes on.
-
Cheshire Cats: often a group; mic the lead and cover the rest with area mics.
-
Two Alices: label their channels side by side so the board op tracks the switch.
-
Caterpillar: if several actors form the Caterpillar, mic only the lead voice.
